I think that the debate and criticism (both positive and negative) on the board is great and actually quite healthy. Gives a great forum for which to sound off. However one thing is pissing me off, and its when comments are been taken off these boards and then used on some of the other festival message boards, often unwanted by the other users yada yada.... Some people seem to be very vitriolic towards the festival and some events over the weekend. Now one thing I am is a nit picker and I love to complain, but when I got involved with festivals a few years ago I thought rather than complain help out instead. Some people just seem happy to belly ache, with no feedback on possible resolutions. You don't want long queues. You want to park next to your car, yet are unhappy as to where you may end up because everyone wants to camp next to their car. You want changes with ticketing (fine) but in addition seem to want a pound of flesh in retribution. I work at over 8 festivals per season, nearly all little festivals, and I have never seen so much vitriol aimed at a young and non profit organisation. Maybe the big criticism now is how to get rid of you. But, and I am been serious, if you feel you can do better "Just Do It!!!!!". Either look at setting up your little utopia somewhere or volunteer at this one, rather than take your petty and libelous comments across all the festival boards. This is not aimed at the vast majority, Hell even I've complained, but something on another board has upset a hard working member, all out of spite as far as I can see Not going to reply to this anymore as I am going to be mature about all this.

Hear, hear Music festival = beer, mud, music, noise, rough camping, full toilets. Solfest = all of the above + cracking atmosphere, top bands, friendly cumbrians ( of which I am one) and believe it or not HILLS. We are not Lincolnshire. take your gripes elsewhere. Just one criticism Solfest, Why were Bad Manners not on the mainstage?
Me and the kids can't wait till next year

Er, I'm not really sure that this is a 'private place' anyway Dave. Anybody (who hasn't been banned) can read it and comment on it elsewhere.

I do not understand the mindset of peurile individuals that will take the argument elsewhere. Worse than the playground. Don't do backstabbing, always to the face or in long winded vociferous letters. Don't worry I've made my feelings known on other boards as well.

handbags at dawn anyone? made me laugh out loud........
keep it up, it's adding to my enjoyment.
loved the festival, have no gripes, been to Beatherder, Gashfest free festival in Scotland, Glasto and Solfest this year. i am liking the smaller friendlier festivals, (well apart from some of the unfriendly posts on here that is), well done to all organisers, it ain't easy and lots of people put hard work into them, so well done.
on the parking/camping front, it does seem that we people do take everything plus the kitchen sink when we can take it in a vehicle, and i am including me in this....., tell you what, when i have to walk 2 miles with my stuff at Glasto, it is bare minimum, i even have a smaller tent for carrying on my back....... perhaps give it a thought or be prepared to have more camping fields and the extra expense. This year, Beatherder separated the camping and parking and it worked very well. still not too far to lug your stuff.

Hmm, you feel a sense of 'lalalalala' towards these 'puerile' individuals? I found the (pretty unpleasant) conversation you are referring to (I think) and I don't really believe it's a case of backstabbing. S/he is using a pseudonym, so are you. I don't agree with what s/he said either, but it an open forum and the topic was Solfest. Are you associated with this poster in that thread: <Cue some braindead idiot to start whining about 'free speech' .... > I'm think I'm one of the people he's talking about. There are some concepts which I feel are far more important than festival litter. S/he has pissed you off, get over it. No, you can't 'just' say 'shut up'.

It's more of a description than a pseudonym...

It's more of a description than a pseudonym... I bet he doesn't pick the phone up and say 'hello, biggerdave here'. There again I don't want to bet much on it.

well said biggerdave, dude i've been to Solfest from day one and i totally love the friendly vibe but i've just joined the forum and i am shocked at the moaning and groaning from people - i hoped the forum was going to be where all the festival heads gathered and got the goss on the go about their brilliant experiences they have at Solfest but as usual the minority spoil it for the majority do they not know its boring when people moan about the good things in life - so to the belly achers i say get a grip of the goodness guys and float on
